ICSI EU meeting in Olsztyn

In late April, our partners gathered in Olsztyn (Poland). For 2 days, they explored how the region uses tourism as a way of connecting sectors, from health resorts to cleaning the many lakes they are famous for. Everything summarized in 1 minute? Watch the aftermovie!

Here’s what we learned in Olsztyn.

Meet Marta, our partner from Olsztyn

Sociologist by nature, director at the Department of Innovation Support and Territorial Cooperation, but most of all our partner from Olsztyn: it’s Marta Piskorz! “I love my green and peaceful part of Poland. But above all, I love connecting with local entrepreneurs and giving their businesses the best chance to grow.” In a short interview, Marta explains why ICSI EU will benefit her region and its people.

What does Europe look like in 2040?

Continuing our exploration of strategic foresight, our partners took a look at what the future might be like. For 3 main signals of change (security, climate and economy), they imagined potential future scenarios. From economic disaster to EU-topia: anything could happen. Now, it’s a matter of making sure our policy steers us towards the future we want.

Focus on safety and security in Tampere

Less than 2 months after meeting in Olsztyn, the partnership saw each other again in Tampere (Finland). The region has a strong focus on safety and security, and impressed us with both its innovative solutions and its beautiful nature. From crisis simulation tools to autonomous vehicle research and a renewed wellbeing service model: we found lots to learn!

An inspirational meeting in Tampere.

Meet Luke, our partner from Tampere

He only recently moved to Tampere, but already praises the city as one of Finland’s most innovative regions. Luke Kähkönen represents ICSI EU at The Baltic Institute of Finland: “Our organisation ensures that the Tampere Region can adopt policies based on knowledge and experience. ICSI EU gives us a great opportunity to connect the regional ecosystem with partners on a European level.”
