Key Industries: Strong partners for competitiveness

The Bremen/Bremerhaven business location encompasses almost 22,000 companies, which provide more than 336,000 jobs. The evolved regional industry focuses characterize the location and are closely interwoven with renowned scientific institutes. The key industries in particular strengthen the region's innovation and competitiveness.

In addition to these, the state of Bremen, as a business and innovation location, has other important and innovative economic sectors, each of which has an impact on the key industries: IT, mechanical engineering, construction, environmental, steel, healthcare and cultural and creative industries.

In the state strategy “Key to Innovation 2030”, innovation, services, and industry are strategically linked with the so-called key innovation fields. The interfaces between different industries and technologies are particularly important for the transformation of the economy.
