Strategies
With targeted strategies for the future, Bremen is driving innovation and strengthening its position as a modern and future-oriented business location:
In 2030, our world will be different. Companies in industry and services will use technologies such as artificial intelligence or 3D printing on a daily basis, vehicles will run on electricity or green hydrogen. Socially responsible companies will tackle social challenges with fresh ideas. Industry boundaries will become increasingly blurred and change will be our constant companion.
With the commercial development program for the city of Bremen (GEP 2030), the city's citizens adopted the future-oriented, sustainable, and inclusive strategy for the development of commercial areas at its meeting on March 21, 2023.
The hydrogen strategy was drawn up in 2021 under the leadership of the then Senator for Economics, Labor and Europe in coordination with the then Senator for Science and Ports and the then Senator for Climate Protection, Environment, Mobility, Urban Development and Housing.
The federal government's AI strategy adopted in November 2019 created a nationwide framework for the development and application of AI in science and industry, which Bremen has taken note of, as Bremen is already an internationally visible location for AI research and, as one of the key technologies, AI is central to the further development of Bremen's economy and industry.
How can the measures taken by the individual players ultimately result in a truly “smart port”? How can the interests of the various stakeholders be combined? Where and with whom should responsibilities lie? Which issues should be given particular attention in the development of the smart port, in the interests of all stakeholders and closely aligned with their needs? These are precisely the questions that the Smart Port Strategy, developed in collaboration with bremenports, aims to answer, while also serving as a guideline for the future development process.
Strengthening international competitiveness, driving innovation, and preparing ports for the future: the Port Development Concept 2035 lays the foundation for the future development of Bremen's ports.
