Food & Beverage Industry
If you look closely when shopping, you will discover Bremen and Bremerhaven as the production location on many food packagings. The range includes a wide variety of products, such as aromatic coffee, sparkling beer, and of course, fresh fish. Even more food is traded here. As a traditional trading center, the state of Bremen quickly became a hub for goods from all over the world. Products go all over the world via the Bremen ports. Some trading and production companies look back on a long tradition - and have their eyes firmly on the future.
In Bremen and Bremerhaven, numerous small and young companies are also working on innovative ideas. They find a supportive environment among the large companies and, above all, the SMEs in the state, which helps these up-and-coming start-ups with services such as logistics or financing. Thus, the structural change in the industry is taking place, while the number of employees subject to social insurance has remained stable for years. Around 10,000 women and men ensure that products from Bremen and Bremerhaven continue to be a pleasure.
Food Land Bremen and First
The “Food Land Bremen” and “First” initiatives support companies in successfully implementing new product concepts and business models in order to actively shape the change in the nutrition and food industry. The shared vision: an entire state as a food hub with a strong food ecosystem that combines all relevant innovation topics - development and production at a technically excellent level.
With its interdisciplinary network, Food Land Bremen promotes the innovation processes of companies, start-ups, and founders in the food and beverage industry. To this end, the team advises and supports its customers holistically and gives them access to collaboration and mentoring by partners from the Bremen region's food ecosystem.
Companies and start-ups are breaking new ground in the development of innovative food products and processes in the food transition, relying on the latest technology. As part of the Technology Transfer Center (ttz) Bremerhaven, cooperation partner First stands for professional support in the food innovation process.

In Food Land Bremen, all topics along the value chain are focused on, such as branding, distribution channels, packaging, hygiene, and market research, but also cross-cutting topics such as sustainability, new technologies, or organizational development.

At First, the focus lies on science-based product development, technical implementation in sample, small, and pilot series as well as scaling of new products. They further provide support in the future-oriented food topics of analytics, procedures, and process engineering as well as in the integration of the scientific and technical environment in Bremerhaven.

Under the umbrella of ttz Bremerhaven, an international team of experts works in the areas of food and resource efficiency.

Bremen Food and Beverage Industry (NaGeB) e.V.
The NaGeB has been active since 2011 as an interest group for the food and beverage industry [https://www.nageb.de/] in Bremen, Bremerhaven, and the surrounding areas of Lower Saxony. It sees itself as the mouthpiece of the industry and, as such, is in constant dialogue with politicians, the administration, further education institutions, local stakeholders, and the public in Bremen. Their aim is the creation of a strong network that ensures active exchange and mutual support within the industry and makes the state of Bremen known nationwide as a leading location in the food and beverage industry.

Food fairs
Die Messe Bremen veranstaltet verschiedene überregionale und internationale Lebensmittelmessen. Unter anderem die einzige Fachmesse für Fisch und Seafood in Deutschland fish international, die alle zwei Jahre gleichzeitig mit der GASTRO IVENT stattfindet.
Die Messe Bremen gehört zur stadtbremischen Gesellschaft M3B.
The Bremen trade fair organizes various national and international food fairs. Among them is the only trade fair for fish and seafood in Germany, fish international, which takes place every two years at the same time as the GASTRO IVENT. The Bremen trade fair belongs to the Bremen city company M3B.
