Declaration on accessibility

We endeavor to make this website or mobile application accessible. The accessibility declaration is required by the Bremen Disability Equality Act. The technical requirements for accessibility are set out in BITV 2.0.
This declaration on digital accessibility applies to the website of the Senator for Economic Affairs, Ports and Transformation published at https://www.bremen-innovativ.de.

How accessible is the service?

This website is essentially barrier-free. The requirements of BITV 2.0 are largely met.
The review of compliance with the requirements is based on a self-assessment carried out in August 2020.

Which areas are not barrier-free?

We endeavor to make this website as accessible as possible. Nevertheless, updates to underlying software, for example, may mean that content is not accessible. This applies to the basic WordPress system as well as themes and plug-ins, as these components are programmed externally.
In rare cases, we are not yet able to create complete accessibility with existing technologies or are not able to display this content in an accessible manner for technical or copyright reasons due to the fact that such content is provided to us by third parties. However, we always endeavor to use at least accessible technology.

Sections that are not or not yet accessible

  • The keyboard control in the areas “Articles from all subject areas” and “Articles on the subject” could be irritating, as both the article image and the headline and “Find out more” link lead to the respective article. This contradicts section 3 of the WCAG.
  • PDF files from third parties are often not consistently implemented in an accessible manner.

These problems are dealt with flexibly during ongoing operations and after consultation and prioritization with the commissioning body.

When was the accessibility statement created?

This declaration was created in May 2025.

Operating instructions

Here you will find operating instructions that may be helpful when using the website.

Accordion

You can access the individual sections of the accordion using the Tab key. To open or close an accordion section, please press the Enter key.

Accessibility of documents (especially PDF files)

The documents and in particular PDF files on the website are generally provided in an accessible format.

This does not apply to documents and PDF files that have been provided to us by third parties and represent an additional offer or whose content is also available as an HTML alternative.

Content structure

A correct semantic structure has been implemented on the website.

Headings are used throughout to divide the pages and structure them better.

We have added descriptive names to the links so that it is clear what their function is.

We have added hidden text to let you know when a link opens a new window or tab in your browser.

Screen resolution

The website is equally optimized for different resolutions and provides an optimized display for mobile devices.

Keyboard control and navigation

Our Internet pages can alternatively be operated using the keyboard. Use the following keys:

  • To select/deselect a checkbox, use the space bar.
  • To move forwards between links, use the tab key.
  • To move backwards between links, use the Shift and Tab keys simultaneously.
  • To execute a button command, select the button and press the Enter key.

Changing the font size, smoothing the edges of screen fonts, using your own colors and styles

To change the display size, hold down the “Ctrl” key and move the scroll wheel on the mouse or hold down the “Ctrl” key and use the “Plus” key to increase the size or the “Minus” key to reduce it. Alternatively, you can change the font size via the browser settings. Further explanations can be found in the help for your browser.

To activate the edge smoothing of fonts under Windows, for example, go to Control Panel > Display > Appearance > Effects > Use the following method to smooth the edges of screen fonts ClearType.

To use your own style (colors, fonts), you can import it. For example, in Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options > Accessibility. Then click on the desired checkboxes to ignore colors, font styles or font sizes. In the same window, you can check the box under Format document using my style sheet. Then select your preferred style sheet and confirm your entry by clicking OK. You will then receive a selection of colors and fonts.

Images

We have added descriptive alternative texts to all informative images (and images of texts) and provided all purely decorative images (such as the background images) with a zero alternative text marker so that it is clear that there are no alternative texts.
