Key Technologies: Creating something new together

Companies and institutes in Bremen are increasingly researching and developing innovations across industries in an interdisciplinary manner. They use key technologies and innovation drivers - technologies that are relevant in all industries– and work in cross-sectoral industry networks. Some of these innovative technologies are described in more detail on the following pages.

• Lightweight construction and additive manufacturing - companies are constantly looking for new materials and technologies, such as 3D printing
• Hydrogen technologies form an important basis for the ecological transformation of the economy, especially in industry

While the technologies mentioned above have established networks and cluster structures in Bremen, there are other innovation drivers that are only just emerging: autonomous systems and robotics, biotechnology, measurement technology and simulation, and new forms of work and organization. These topics are also supported and promoted as part of the Bremen State Innovation Strategy 2030.
