Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are key technologies that are highly relevant for every company. They harbor enormous value creation potential. Bremen is home to strong players and global leaders in the technology field, contributing their vast reservoir of knowledge.

Bremen start-ups are working particularly intensive with AI, connecting it with innovative sectors such as robotics, medical technology, and traditional industrial applications. In addition, research and development is taking place in industry as well as in leading scientific institutes, such as the Technology Center for Computer Science and Information Technology (TZI), the German Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), and the Bremen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IAI).

The activities in the State of Bremen are bundled in the Transfer Center for Artificial Intelligence Bremen AI. It combines the state's economic and scientific strengths and provides companies, specialists, and the public with access to AI technologies. It promotes exchange between stakeholders and provides, among other things, an overview of the latest developments. The AI Transfer Center is integrated into the Digital Hub Industry.

"AI made in Bremen" is reflected in the State of Bremen's AI strategy. With goals, strategies, and concrete measures, it charts the path to a strong AI location in the State of Bremen that can distinguish itself in national and international competition.

In addition to artificial intelligence, industrial mathematics also offers great innovation potential for companies. Industrial mathematical methods encompass modeling and optimization processes and are used, for example, in autonomous systems. The State of Bremen, together with the University of Bremen and the BIS Bremerhaven Society for Investment Promotion and Urban Development, launched the initiative #MOIN – Model Region for Industrial Mathematics, funded by the Minitstry of Education and Research initiative T-Raum, to create transfer of applied mathematics to companies and society. The aim is to build bidirectional bridges between innovations and developments in science and application-oriented use in industry.
