i2b meet-up “Ports as drivers of innovation and the economy”

Together with experts from business, science, and politics, we cordially invite you to our i2b meet-up on the topic of “Ports as Drivers of Innovation and the Economy” on November 4, 2025, at the Lankenauer Höft in Bremen.

Bremen’s ports are much more than just places for handling goods: they are key factors for jobs, innovation, and international competitiveness. Bremerhaven is one of the largest container ports in Europe and a leader in automobile transshipment. The ports in Bremen, on the other hand, specialize in heavy cargo, general cargo, bulk cargo (e.g., grain and feed), steel, and liquid fuels. Together, they form a strong foundation for the economy—regionally, nationally, and internationally.

But the strength of the ports is not only reflected in figures: with digital strategies, automated processes, and excellent connections to the hinterland, they are driving innovation forward. At the same time, sustainability and climate protection are a top priority – from alternative fuels for the port railway to modern shore power systems.

We will address these and other topics at the i2b meet-up “Ports as a driver of innovation and the economy.” After a welcome address by Senator Kristina Vogt and an inspiring keynote speech, experts will discuss how ports can contribute to the future viability of the entire region.

We look forward to your participation and the opportunity to exchange ideas!
